Why treat bedwetting?
Impact of bedwetting
-
It is a distressing experience for the child and family
-
It places children at increased risk of:
-
Low self esteem
-
Having strong feelings of shame and failure
-
Becoming withdrawn
-
-
There is a financial cost to parents who have to manage children with bedwetting - the additional amount of washing needed to be done and/or money spent on purchasing nappies.
Clinical research shows that bedwetting can have a significant negative impact on the child's emotional and social development. Therefore, treatment should be considered if a child is 6 years old, still wets the bed and is unhappy and uncomfortable about it.
